Too much too much

Two things:

  • explanation for voluntary takedown
  • follow up: new content & pricing (Runners is back online!)

I received a battle cry from the internets announcing on this game's comments that an incoming harassment campaign is targeting me - and all for perceived wrongs. These misconceptions resulted in doxxing, libel, and harassment out in the open. This just piled on top of the bad news bin, added to the mess with the piracy just after launch! Needless to say, I started off reporting these things one by one, but after the first report I had gotten new notifications that told me I needed to take quick action to prevent my itch account from being bombarded any further. So I took down commenting altogether.

I talked about some of the events leading up to the initial concern on Twitter, but then I went silent as I realized I should give no credence to their attacks. Then this happened..

The game's rating now stands at a dismal 1.x star out of 5 as a result of this hate campaign. And yet, no one left a single negative comment here! just 1 star reviews. Hmm.. I will just click each of the users to see what is going on here on their profiles...

...

Aha! all these accounts were started the same day as they left their negative feedback, and they've all interacted zero with the site besides that. My prediction: this will be seen as obvious botting and trolling by the Itch staff, and they will do the right thing.

Either way, with all this going on, you might be wondering.. will they back down? Worry not: this harassment has only made me *stronger*! Granted, I had to increase the price for the Sheets (to $1) in an attempt to curb back the negative comments, however I also just uploaded a stripped-down version of the game text which is lower priced than what was up before. My hope is that this will hold people over while I go through the remaining 150 pages or so to ensure there are zero problem areas.

In the meantime, this lower-priced offering (I am calling it the Lite versionis just a $5 minimum donation for the next week and includes: 84 color page pages, comprised of chapters 1 and 2 (Basics and Characters), plus the pages on Magnitude, Run Generator, Sorcery, and Implants. Anyone who downloads now gets a pretty good deal, in other words! And you can always come to get the even better version of the text later after I upload it too.

The new plan moving forward is to feature the Caribbean and Mexican dystopia, offering Seattle and other locales as options. Before this game is complete, expect A4 layout for it all (the easiest for most people to view and print), new locations and maps, and optional modules for inserting the -isms that fit your vision of the future (mutant-ism, magic-ism, and class-ism among them).

To those who purchased already, you're good. You've probably already gotten your downloads and will have access to this new upload - which will feature no new art. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to reach out via the fan Discord for immediate response.

What on earth drove people to hate on you??

Anyway, this game looks neat

Good question! since I posted this, I have narrowed it down to imagined sleights from CGL fans. Hoping it has sorted itself out..

Thanks, and thanks for the follow! Get a community copy if you haven't already :)

Okay so I pushed out a post, and realize that those who botted me may get notified too. But whatever-

First planned update is a priority one: the missing section on Summoning, the Crew (cohorts, upgrades, etc), and a new section on Isms (discrimination based on social status, genetic manipulation, magical lineage, etc.)
